Awnings can be treated with various substances to make them stronger and/or more resistant to weathering elements. Canvas Coatings can be urethanes, acrylics, PVC, neoprenes, and many other types of substances.

If useing acrylic paints. Allow to dry 24 hours. Wax with Bowler's Wax (available at any hardware store) in order to preserve.

I would think that fabric paint won't stand up to the weathering. This co. claims their product can be used on awnings???

Here's an artical on painting tents. Why would painting awnings be any different???
